Short bio
Monagi is the artistic project of Ghent-based musician and producer Jess Jacob. Known primarily as a guitarist, he has shared the stage with bands such as Tout Va Bien, Mooneye, Patches, and The Shadow Machine. With Monagi, Jess channels his songwriting and production into a French dreamy indie sound but inspired by artists like Patrick Watson, Mark Knopfler, and Adrienne Lenker—blending filmic textures, lingering melodies and a soft melancholy.
‘Tête dans les nuages’ is the last single and the name of Monagi’s second album—a meditation on lost dreams and chances not taken. Across the record, Jess fills the songs with nostalgic, familiar sounds, shaping a tangible landscape that echoes memories of his own past. This record is made to sound more like unity in comparison to his first album ‘Tout ce temp’, every song is like a chapter, starting with an introduction and tied together with an interlude.
November 2nd 2023 Monagi played the support show of Zimmerman at Café Café Hasselt.
This was an intimate duo performance created for future support shows and small settings.
